Saipan Salvation Army Meeting October 8, 2006

We have two Youth Fellowships each week. They begin on Friday night and run pretty much through Sunday evening. If there's a long weekend, they run through Monday nights. Some kids come for a few hours, some for the long haul. We all have a great time. We study, play and do various activities. They like to cook a lot and this weekend, they wanted to make spaghetti with alfredo sauce and caramel popcorn. After making the alfredo sauce, the kids decided that spaghetti is boring so they decided to have macaroni alfredo instead. Devan came and although he didn't want to get involved in the cooking activities, he was an avid participant in a lot of other stuff.

At first, he didn't want to get out of the van. He wanted to spend the night in it. He dragged out the infamous tent and when dinner time came, he didn't want to come out. Annie fed him through the side window. The kids later began calling the tent the "technology tent" because there was a portable fan inside.

He wanted to play MarioKart but it was too complicated for his age. The other kids gave him an unconnected controller and he was convinced he was playing. He thought he won every race and would leap up and do a victory dance. "Suckers! You lose-you lose! I win!"

He played Uno, too. He played with Annie but we forgot that he's learning his colors. He called out the color of each card dealt, which for all you non-Uno players means that we knew what their cards were. He also had an interesting way of holding his cards. Despite all this, they won quite a few games.

This fellow doesn't mess around when he gets sleepy. He zonks out quickly, as if there's a sleep switch somewhere.
